Advertising veteran Mainardo de Nardis is Edelman's new president and chief operating officer, with Brian Buchwald also taking on a newly-created global role.

Edelman has named Mainardo de Nardis as global president and chief operating officer, as Matthew Harrington moves into a new position as executive vice chairman. In addition, the firm has elevated Brian Buchwald to the newly-created role of president, global transformation and performance.
Harrington, who has spent 41 years with Edelman, has been COO since 2012, adding global president duties in 2019. After requesting to focus on client work, his executive vice chairman role will see him concentrate on strengthening relationships with Edelman’s largest global clients.
Reporting to CEO Richard Edelman, de Nardis becomes responsible for operations, large clients, geographies and integration. The advertising veteran previously served as executive vice chairman of Omnicom Media Group and CEO of OMD Worldwide, global CEO of Aegis Media, and CEO of MEC at WPP. Since leaving Omnicom seven years ago, he has focused on advisory and investment in the adtech sector, and has also been a member of the DJE Holdings group board for more than five years.
