Emily Poon to depart Ogilvy PR

Emily Poon is to step down from her role as Asia-Pacific president at Ogilvy PR next month, Earned First can reveal. She will be replaced by Ogilvy PR Australia CEO Richard Brett, as part of a planned succession strategy that has been underway for the past few months.

Poon's decision comes four and a half years after she was elevated to the top job at Ogilvy PR in Asia-Pacific. A 17-year veteran of the firm, she had previously risen through the ranks in Singapore, eventually becoming managing partner of the latter operation in 2019. She will take a break before planning the next chapter of her career.

As the youngest-ever leader of Ogilvy PR Asia-Pacific, Poon had significant shoes to fill — taking over from Scott Kronick. Unlike many of its network rivals, Asia-Pacific had emerged as Ogilvy PR's biggest region by fee income, thanks to a significant China presence and an enlightened expansion strategy under Kronick and previous leaders Chris Graves and Matthew Anderson.
