Five forces reshaping Asia-Pacific PR in 2026

Last week we looked under the hood of the Asia-Pacific public relations consultancy sector, telling the story of its recent progress and performance through a range of relevant metrics from the 2026 Consultancy Performance Index.

The picture that emerges is of an industry that has responded to economic volatility and curtailed growth by becoming more disciplined in terms of profitability and client retention, even as talent churn and consolidation accelerate.

The numbers tell us plenty, but understanding how the region’s comms sector is evolving requires a more qualitative analysis of macroeconomic forces and microtrends. This has involved sifting through 60+ submissions and consultancy meetings, along with 150+ awards submissions and numerous external research initiatives, including the PR 2030 Transformation Study.

All of which, in addition to our ongoing editorial reporting of the sector, helps us deliver an annual update to one of our most popular columns of 2025, lifting the lid on five forces that are reshaping the public relations sector in Asia-Pacific.
